1. On the 16th of September 1657.

3. George Browne of Southwell hall in Essex gentleman
4. aged about 25 yeares, a wittnes produced, sworne
5. and examined deposeth as followeth videlicet./
6. To the first and second articles of the said allegation he
7. deposeth and saith That he this deponent came over in the
8. shipp the Gilbert arlate from the Barbadoes as a Passenger
9. and that the sayd shipp was bound for London, And
10. that in the sayd shipps course from the Barbadoes she
11. came to an anchor neere unto Aberdey arlate, and
12. that she being there he this deponent had the arlate
13. William Croford give order for the weighing of her
14. anchors and trimming her leakes, and going for London,
15. and that the greatest part of the sayd shipps Company
16. (whereof one Tanner was a cheif) refused to goe for London
17. upon a pretence of the shipps leakines, and that
18. thereupon the ˹said˺ Master was afterwards compelled to goe with
19. the sayd shipp for Bristoll, And further he cannot depose,/

26. To the third interrogatory he answereth that the shipp interrate was heavily
27. laden, and (in this Rendents iudgement) had more goods aboard her
28. than was fitting, And that the iron chain pumpe of the sayd shipp
29. was not made use of in the great storme she mett with, for that
30. (as 'twas sayd) they could not come at her, by reason goods
31. were stowed upon her And further he knoweth not to answere./
32. To the fourth and fifth interrogatories he answereth that by reason
33. of the storme interrate the shipp became leaky, and was soe shaken
34. by it that she did did gape in some places, and that
35. the sayd shipps company did very laboriously worke at
36. the hand=pumpes by their turns for the sayd shipps preservation
37. which was upon their labour (which the good providence of)
