Transcription

To the 16 hee saith that the said Gorsi said hee was an Englishman borne
in London, and otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.

To the 17th hee saith that the said seizure was made in the night as
aforesaid, and that about two of the clock in the morning harman Goris
came aboard the Tyger frigot, and that the chase of the hare in the
feild began about tenn of the clock the same night before such his
comming aboard, And otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing
deposition.

To the 18th and 19th hee saith that this deponent examined William [?Lemo]
in writing, and that such examination was written by this deponents
masters mate, and this deponent hath the same in his custodie, and such
writing was donne iust at the time of this examination and not since.
And this deponent was present afterwards at his examination before
the Maior of Portsmouth, and there this deponent had the reading over
his examination after the same was finished and subscribed: and the next
day after such first examination before the Maior hee was againe
examined before him upon bare questioning without an oath, at which
time hee averred tha hee had forborne to declare the truth the day
before, because hee was forwarned by the Skipper and merchant as
aforesaid. And otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.

To the 20th hee saith that hee was present at the examination
before the Major of Portsmouth of all the persons interrogated, and saith
their examinations were there put into writinge.

To the 21th and 22th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and to
the depositions of Maynard Everson, ffrancis Johnson Brewar and John
duvall taken before the Major of Portsmouth.

To the 23th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeingd eposition, and otherwise
answereth not.

To the 24th hee referreth himselfe as aforesaid, and otherwise cannot
answer.

To the 25th negatively, referring himselfe as aforesaid.

To the 26th hee saith that hee can speake some ffrench, some spanish,
some Portuguese, some Indian, and that hee can speake dutch and
that English is his mother tongue, and that it is longe since hee
learned the said languages.

The said Captaine Sannders examined upon an allegation given
in on behalfe of his highnesse the 13th of June 1655. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that
some of the Company of the said shipp the hare at the time of jher
seizure, namely the Cooper and some others were ffrench men
and commonly reputed to be subiects of the ffrench king. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the second article hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition
to the allegation given in the 16th of this instant and cannot otherwise depose.

To the third article hee referreth himselfe to the bills of lading arlate
and to his said foregoeing deposition, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the fourth hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and
to the Registrie of this Court, and otherwise hee cannot depose.
