ADM 106/284/112 Folio 112: Isaac Woodgreene, Thomas Browne, Henry Sheere, Samuel Chamblett, John Tinker, Trinity House. They have examined Mr Cholwell's ability to command a galley. They observe that foreign Princes only employ men of several years' experience to command galleys. They do not believe Mr Cholwell capable of managing a galley in time of flight or in bad weather, nor is he fluent in Italian. They judge him as capable as any other man who has not had recent service of commanding a galley. 1673 Aug 13
ADM 106/291/147 Folio 147: Henry Sheere, Henry Toddeman and Hugh Fitt, Trinity House. They have examined Humphrey Saunders of Horsleydown and pass him as a Master of the 5th rate. 1673 Nov 29
