- Robert Westerne (complainant) lived in the house of Richard Aldworth of London, merchant, for many years before 1639. Aldworth drove a trade in the may of merchandizing "in buying and selling of ffustians cotten wooll" and other things. An indenture was prepares and signed, dealed and delivered between Richard Aldworth and Robert Westerne, dated May 1649. The covenants included a term of five years in which Robert Westerne was to dwell with Richard Aldworth "for the useing and mannageinge for the said Richard the trade of buyinge and sellinge of ffustians cotton wooll scottish yarne and all things incident and belonging to the said trade". Robert Westerne should also "wrieta dnd enter into the bookes of accompt of the said Richard perfect accompts and entries of al the wares that should be bought and sould by the complainant from tyme to tyme and of all charges disbursements payments and receipts by the complainant concerninge the said trade". In addition to receiving reasonable payment for his services from Aldworth, Westerne "might att the makeinge upp of every yearely accompt deducat and take out of the gaines that should be gotten by meanes of the trade aforesaid soe much money as should amount to eleaven pounds to the hundred for the imployment of his stock to be used in trade aforesaid. Westerne claims to have perfromed his services fully and satisfactorily, and in December 1642, at the request of Aldworth, lent Aldworth the sum of £300 "at interest of his owne proper moneys", with which Aldworth "caused to be bought wares adnd merhcandizes to be driven in the said trade".The rate of interest was agreed at £7 in the hundred.
