Saint Malo's where they were playfellowes when they were boyesdand went
to schoole together. And saith that about eleaven or twelve yeares since
the said William was outraged and abused by some of the towne in the
night time, and amongest other abuses had the haire of his head cutt
and mangled off, at which affront hee conceived soe great spight and
discontent, that hee presently left the towne and went for Amsterdam and
swore hee would never come t Saint Malo's againe, and this deponent beleeveth
hee hath never bin at Saint Malo's since, for if hee had, hee beleeveth hee
should have knowne thereof, being of his acquaintance and that being the
place of this deponents continuall residence and dwelling to this time.
And saith hee hath heard that the said William Bolyn, Simon de La [?GXXd]
is a married man and hath taken a dutch woman to wife, and further
that hee is coomonly accompted and reputed a Burgher of Amsterdam
and a subiect of the Lords the States of the United Netherlands having
lived there about eleaven or twelve yeares as aforesaid. And otherwise
hee cannot depose.
To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith hee hath noe relation by kindred or otherwise to the
said Belin, nor hath any interest in the shipp or lading in question, which
shipp hee doth not knowe. And otherwise hee referreth himself to
his foregoeing deposition.
To the second hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
To the rest of the Interrogatories hee saith hee cannot answer thereto, not
knowing the said shipp nor ought of the voyage or lading in question,
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

Peter Baly of Amsterdam Mariner, aged 32 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined.
To the first and second articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth thst
hee well knoweth the producent William Bolyn, commonly called |Monsieur
le Gard Bolyn, and hath soe donne for theise tenn yeares last past, hee
for that space livimng at Amsterdam where this deponent hath soe longe and
longer lived, And there this deponent hath had acquaintance with him
and hath heard him say that hee was a Burger of Amsterdam, where hee
is married, but was borne at Saint Malo's, and for a Burger of Amsterdam
and a subiect of the Lords the States of the United Netherlands and owner of the shipp the Crosse of Jerusalem arlate, wherein this deponent hath served about five monethes hee saith
the said producent was and is commonly accompted and reputed. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.
