Edward Boucklee (alt. Buckley) (b. ca. 1619; d. ?). Mariner.
Boatswain of the Catherine of London (Master: David Younge).
Resident in 1658 in the parish of Saint Olave Southwark.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Twenty-nine year old Edward Boucklee deposed in the High Court of Admiralty. His deposition is dated on January 19th 1657 (modern 1658), but, given the related allegation is dated August 5th 1658, teh Court notary appears to have mistaken written 1657, intedning 1658 (modern 1659). Boucklee was examined on an allegation on behalf of David Younge and Company in the cause of "David Younge and Company against David Bonnell".[1]
Edward Boucklee stated that the voyage lasted from January 1656 until September 1657.
The master's mate of the Catherine, William Smith, also deposed on behalf of David Younge and Company, as did Thomas Sweet, a thirty-three year old mariner of Stepney, who had been mate on the Catherine.[2]
A separate allegation was made by David Bonnell, dated XXX 1658. Deposing in support of David Bonnell were the wine cooper William Hobcroft, of Saint Dunstans in the East, and fellow wine cooper John Collins, of Saint Olave Hartstreet.
