HCA 30/636/3 HCA 30/636/3 - Faded blue cardboard folder containing an assortment of documents

The sub-category HCA 30/636/5 consists of one faded blue cardboard folder containing an assortment of documents. An unprepossessing cover, but an Aladdin's trove inside. This will make a fascinating research challenge to understand and contextualise the documents. For the brave and young.

We have made seventy-three images of the documents in this folder. Below are thumbnails of a sample. If you click on the thumbnail, you will get a larger image. For research purposes we will be providing high definition images via DropBox or OneDrive.

The first task will be to identify discrete documents, determine what they are and who is their author or authors. Some of these documents have multiple hands. Others are scraps of paper, with columns of numbers. Others are more formal accounts, with hand annotations.

How do these documents relate to the three more formal letter account books in other HCA 30/636 sub-categories, such as Andrew Hardey's account book for the ship the Abraham in HCA 30/636/3?

Can we match the handwriting in the annotations and in the various documents to other documents in the entire HCA 30/636 category?

Can we match the names of people listed in these assorted documents with people in other HCA 30/636 sub-categories?

What about the various commodities and materials?
