Transcription

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith that a share will come to him (if the said
shipp be adiudged prize) according to the Act of Parliament,
to which hee referreth himselfe, and such share will be according
to his said qualitie of a commander of one of the said shipps
And that hee can understand low dutch, and that English is
his mother tongue, and that hee can speake Spanish, Portuguese
and some ffrench. And otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his
foregoeing deposition.

To the second hee saith hee cometh required by the Marshall of
this Court to be a Witnesse in this cause, and being soe, namely
a witnesse sworne to speake the truth, hee doth endeavour and
desire in the way of iustice that the said shipp and goods should be prize, because
hee beleeveth them to be lawfull prize to this Nation, and
saith Major Sedgewick, Captaine Robert ffenn, Captaine Robert
Martin, and Lieutenant Thurstone, and the master of the Black
Raven and this deponent and some other officers were of the
said Counsell of warr. And otherwise saving as aforesaid hee
cannot answer.

To the third hee saith the Black Raven aforesaid was a dutch
built shipp, and otherwise hee cannot answer, for hee did not
heare the haling nor answer. And otherwise hee cannot answer
saving as aforesaid.

To the fourth hee saith hee this deponent left the said shipp
and goods at Boston in New England, hee being commanded
upon the [?service], soe that hee cannot tell what afterwards
became of them, And otherwise negatively for his part, and
for others or otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the fifth hee cannot answer.

To the 6th hee saith that the said Squadron had met with

only till they had an opportunitie to examine her master and
company, who upon examination appearing to be swedes, they

the Saint John Baptist they [?carried] alonge with them because they
