To the 9th and 10th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof./

To the 11th hee referreth himself to the Acts and proceedings of this Court:-/:-

To the 12th hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true:-/

To the Crosse Interrogatories/ [CENTRE HEADING]

Dt: Smith./

To the first hee saith hee cometh to declare the trueth of his knowledge in
this Cause at the instance of Mr de hare and Abraham Stocke
and that hee was an ordinary marriner aboard the Successe interrate at the
time of the hurt received as predeposed, and was then at the helme of the
said shipp Successe And further cannot depose:-/

To the second hee saith, hee hath seene the shipp the dove interrate about 12.
yeares since at harwich, and since at the time of the hurt done as
predeposed and shortly after at Newcastle, and saith hee hath knowne the
interrate Cable for about 3. or 4. yeares last past./

To the third hee saith, That the place called the Well interrate is
about 20. leagues over, and that usually all shipps passing from London
or parts hereabouts to Newcastle doe passe over the same, and saith at the
time of the hurt done as aforesaid the weather was something [?harie]
and duske, but not very darke, and this rendent was then at the helme
of the said Vessell Successe./

To the 4th hee referreth himselfe to his precedent deposition, And further
cannot depose:-/

To the 5th hee saith, That hee this rendent and the rest of the Company
of the said shipp Successe did at the time of the disaster aforesaid
perceive and declare one to another that the Vessell which did the injurie
predeposed had the figure or forme of an Angell in her head.

To the 6th hee saith hee hath not deposed of any such Confession as is
interrate, And otherwise negatively:-/

To the 7th negatively, referring to his foregoeing deposition:-/

To the 8th hee saith hee can write and reade, and saith hee did not
take any note in writing of the time when the disaster aforesaid
happened, but very well remembreth it, as hee hath great reason to
