Pontrieux to dischardge, and comming neare that port, a small frigot
which they tooke to be English by her English colours which shee
had out, bore upon the Peter, and approaching her and the
Peter approaching the land, certaine ffrench men in two boates came
aboard the Peter to help hale her in, and made three shotts
(two with and one without bullet) at the said frigot (Leonard
Barnet commander) and afterwards shott with muskets to
hinder the said frigots company from coming aboard the
Peter, and the said three shotts hee saith were made before
the frigot shott at the Peter, And otherwise hee cannot depose
aving the said shipp Peter floated and was fastened
with two towes to the rocks upon the ffrench coast when
shee was taken by the said frigot

Grocer, aged 40 yeeres or thereabouts
sworne before the right worshipfull William Clerke
docter of lawes, one of the Judges of the
high Court of the Admiraltie, saith
and deposeth.
That in order to Enquire
after goods lost out of the said shipp the John and Ambrose there issued
out of this Court at the instance of the said Thomas ffowell
and others, a warrant directed to this deponent to bringe before
the Judges of this Court one William Moore of Bradwell and
