thereabouts, sworne and exámined
11. To the first and second ˹3 and 4 and 5˺ articles of the sayd állegation hee saith and
12. deposeth that hee hath heard and beleeveth that the arlate Josepth
13. Cubit {a}nd company were the time arlate owners of the said shipp the
14. Palmtree and of her tackle and furniture, and partly kno for such commonly
15. accounted, and saith that with in the said time, hee this deponent by
16. order of Miles Piles one of the owners of the said shipp (which was
17. then bound from Rochell to dartmouth) made assurance for the interest
18. afterwards at his request, in the name of another of the that owners
19. for the same voyage And at the same time (as this deponent was
20. credibly informed) the producent Joseph Cubit was one of
21. the said company of owners of the said shipp. And further
22. saith that according to lettres and advise by him this deponent
23. received from the said Miles Piles and others, the said shipp proceeded
24. within the said time arlate from Dartmouth for Rochell, and there
25. safely arived or thereabouts and that hee this deponent had
26. a bill of exchange draw dated at Rochell the 13th of September 1656
27. drawne upon him by William Corkill the ˹owners˺ factor there, for payment
28. of two hundred pounds sterling, to James Burkin and Joas Everson
29. of London Marchants, for p being for payment XXXX Portion of the said shipp
30. the Palmtree her ladeing at Rochell, taken in for the account
31. of the said Joseph Cubit and company owners of the said shipp
32. (further expressed in the lettre of advise comming with the said bill ˹at about the time of the date thereof˺)
33. both which hee hath nowe with him; which th money this deponent
34. paid accordingly. and charged the same to the account of the said
35. owners of the Palmetree, and they have since satisfied him for the
36. same, and for thei rex butX hee is well assured that the said
37. Piles and company were the said time owners of the said shipp and
38. lading, And further saith that the said shipp in her homewards
39. retourne from Rochell being (as this deponent hath bin informed
40. by lettres seized off Plimouth by two a Dunkirke man of warr
41. and afterwards recued by Captaine Plumleigh in one of the shipps
42. of this Commonwealth, and carried into the downes and thense
43. sent for Portsmouth, and there met with by XX Miles Piles
44. one of her owners, hee the said Piles wanting money for
45. supplying her and her company with necessaries and and provisions
46. to send her for dartmouth, tooke it up there and drew a bill of
47. exchange upon this deponent for repayment thereof unto
