Golden tree}
Examined upon the sayd Interrogatories

Arient Tounes of Toogh in holland mariner
Steersman of the sayd shipp the Golden tree
aged two and thirty yeares sworne and examined
saith as followeth videlicet.
To the sayd Interrogatories he saith he knoweth well the sayd shipp
the Golden tree whereof his precontest Symon Peterson is master
and this deponent is steersman of her and so hath bene ever since
June last when he first came on board the same att Amsterdam
and saith that as ti her home she doth belong to the Port of
Amsterdam where and elswhere in Holland her Owners live but their names he att
present remembreth not. And further saith that her present
lading is salt and not any other goods, and the samw was
laden att Browage in the Kingdome of ffrance where a
factor for the Grand party did for their accompt lade the
same to be carryed to haver de Grace in ffrance and
there delivered for the use of the sayd Grand party, and that
the sayd shipp came last from Bronage and was bound to
haver de Grace aforesayd. And saith he cannot give any
more particular Accompt of the sayd shipp or lading or this
present voyage. Saving that the sayd Vessell hath noe gunns
but hath seven musketts and some powder and ammunition,
three Cables and a peice. three great anchors with a warp
anchor and two sutes of sayles with furniture and
provisions meet for such a voyage.

John Lawrence of Schagen in holland Mariner
Cooke of the said shipp the Golden Tree aged
24 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the Interrogatories hee saith that the said shipp the Golden Tree belongeth to the
port of Amsterdam and that her owners are commonly reputed to be there
dwelling and to be subiects of the States of Holland, and that the Skioper is
one of them, and saith that shee tooke in her lading of salt at Bruage
to be thence carried to and dischaardged at haver de Grace, and that it was
laden by a ffrenchman, And otherwise hee cannot depose being only Cooke
of the said vessell and not fully acquainted with the particulars of the
lading, or for whose accompt the same was. Saving hee saith they
had seaven muskets and a birdinge peece and provisions of victualls
for about three weekes time.
