I S:r John Churchill Knight Master of the Rolls doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in writeing Viz:t I give my sonne S:r William Stregge knt John Piggott of ?Brockley in the County of Somersett and Harry Loynon of ?Hartey in the same County Esq:r and their heires all my mannor and Capitall Messuage of Hartwell in the said County of Somersett with all Lande Tenements and Hereditaments thereunto belonging upon trust to sell and dispose of the same for the payment of my debts wherewith the said Mannor and Lande are Legally charged by any Conveyance and the residue of the mony I doe give to my daughter Carloletta towards her better advancement to be paid at her day of Marriage or age of one and twenty years which shall first happen and if she dye before payment then I give the said surplusage of mony to my deare Daughter the Lady Mary Stregge (or Strogge) if she bee liveing or to such Child of her body in case of death as bee then liveing and if she have noe Child or that Child dye before the age of one and twenty years or day of marriage then I give the Said Surplusage unto the Child or Children of my daughter Margarett ?Turte at his or their ages of one and twenty years or daies of Marriage that shall be liveing at the time of the decease of my said daughter Margarett Turte (?Turbe) to whome I give the benefit thereof to bee made by Interest dureing her life and this I give unto my said daughter Margarett and her Children in full discharge of all that shee or they can or may demand out of my estate reall or personall Item I give and devise unto my said daughter the Lady ?Strogge and her heires all my Mannor of Churchill in the said County of Somersett and all my Landes tenements and hereditaments thereunto belonging and my Woode in Licence and also my now enclosed parke at Churchill to the end she may pay out of the profits after her Mothers decease ffifteene hundred pounds to my daughter Caroletta and pay my debts that my personall estate will not pay for my debts must bee paid first but not a pretended debt to be due to my brother Churchill which I declare dyed greatly indebted to mee and my will is that whosever shall bee owner of the said Mannor and parke by virtue of this my will hsall pay such summe and summes of mony as I by any writeing under my hand have agreed to pay unto my said daughter Margarett Turke and her Children and to my sister Alexander twelve pounds p annum  during her life Item my will is that my pictures in Churchill house shall bee there preserved and goe along with the respective owners of the said Mannor and house according to the respective limitations of this my will and of this my will I doe make my said daughter the Lady Stroggs, my daughter Carlotta Lancelott Appleby Gent and Walter Chiver gent my Executors Item I giveunto my kinsman the right hono:ble John Lord Churchill my young black Stouthorse (sic) Item my Watch and Gold seale I give to Caroletta my daughter my Diamond and gold rings I weare to my daughter Stroggs to M:r  Chiver one of my best horses to M:r Appleby five pounds to William Barnette and John Heyley my wearing apparel and Lynnen to my Cozen Thomas ?Leading my Books at Lincoln’s Inn to Tom Heyley forty shillings to M:r Chiver my Sword and best Beaver  In witness whereof I the said S:r John Churchill have hereunto sett my hand and seale this fower and twentieth day of July in the first yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord King James the second over England Annoq:r dui one thousand six hundred eighty five Jo: Churchill signed sealed published and declared to bee my last will and testament in the presence of
