Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Twenty-one year old James Bonnell deposed on March 13th 1655 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on a libel on behalf of Ralph Wingfeild in the cause of "Ralphe Wingfeild against 67 hogsheads of tobaccoe laden aboard the shipp the Phenix of which ffrancis Steward is master by George Abbott in Virginia and consigned to Mathew Abbott and against the sayd Mathew Abbott comming in for his interest and against whatsoever persons intervening or appearing judgment herein".[1]
