Henry Hare (b. ca. 1618; d. ?). Waterman.
Resident in Shadwell in 1659.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Forty-one year old Henry Hare deposed on December 3rd 1659 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on an allegation in the case of "Thompson and others against the House of ffreindship aforesayd"[1]
Henry Hare stated that he knew the ship the House of ffreindship well and had done so for four or five years (Master: Nicholas Treworghy). As a waterman he had often been aboard the ship, which was also part-owned by her master. Between November 1657 and February 1658, the master had imployed Henry Hare as a waterman "to fetch from the yard of the arlate Edward [?XXX] severall materialls to fit out the said ship". The materials he fetched included "deales sinnet spunyarne, battens firewood small cordage, brimstone oyle pitch, [?XXX] thrumb, and other things".[2]
