Transcription

after an Algier man of warr came up with the Sally man and by force
rescued this deponent and company from him, and desirous
to him the English his friends, rendred them afterwards safe aboard the
[Langpart], one of the frigots of this Commonwealth, Captaine Cuttenes
commander, but the said shipp the ffrancis with her said lading
were irrecoverably carried away by the said Sally man
of warr, and soe the said [?fruite] and the said Mr [?Bence] part of
the vessell, tackle and furniture were and are utterly lost to
the said Mr [?Bence]. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the first article hee saith and deposeth that hee verie well knoweth
and for theise seaven yeares last past hath well knowne the producent
doctor ffrancisco Benzi, and bin well acquainted with him at Venice
for the most part of that time, and saith that about foure yeares since
hee this deponent was present in Venice at which time the
two shipps the Prince arlate whereof Claus Tunnison [?Click] was
master, and the shipp the Grimani alias the Armes of Midenblick
(John harman lieves master) were riding at the harbour
of Venice, and this deponent was then and there conversant and
acquainted with the said two masters, this deponent then riding
alsoe there with a shipp whereof hee was commander and
wherein the said doctor Banzi (sic) had interest, named the Madona
de Stellario of Venice. And saith hee this deponent was then privie
to and well acquainted with a treatie betweene the said
doctor ffrancisco Benzi and some dutch merchants there resident
about the said doctors buying severall parts in each of the said shipps,
