Biographical synthesis
Richard Chandler (alt. Chaundler) (b.1606 (J.R. Woodhead, 1966), or ca.1611; d.1691). Haberdasher.
Resident in the parish of Saint Lawrence Jewry in 1657. Later resident in Saint Mary Aldermanbury, where he was buried in 1691.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Richard Chandler, a forty-six year old haberdasher, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on August 16th 1657. Je was examined on interrogatories ministered on the behalf of William Kendall, John Michelson and others, concerning the shipp formerly called the Shepard and now the Northampton.[1]
From his evidence it is clear that Chandler was familiar with the Virginian tobacco trade.
Richard Chandler appears in business with John Chandler in "Aldermanberry" in the 1677 London directory.[2]
J.R.Woodhead (1966) identifies a Richard Chandler, haberdasher, and gives the following details:

Bro-in-law of Penning ALSTON (7)
