shipp the Crosse of Jerusalem at the time of her seizure interrogated
but hath noe interest in her or her lading.
To the second hee referreth him selfe to his foregoeing deposition, and otherwise cannot
depose.
To the third hee saith hee hath knowne the said shipp for theise five monethes
during which space hee hath served in her, but knoweth not where shee was
built nor by whom, And otherwise hee cannot answer, for this deponent
came first aboard her at Saint Malo's about two monethes before her departure
from thence.
To the fourth, fifth and 6th hee saith that hee was hired to goe with the
said shipp for Spaine, and thence to such place as the said shipp should therein
be imployed or freighted, and saith hee was hired by Peter Martinson the master,
And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 7th hee referreth him selfe to his foregoeing deposition and cannot
otherwise answer.
To the 8th hee saith the said Peter Martenson is a dutchman, and that
the company of the said shipp at the time of the said seizure consisted
of about 30 persons or more, of which there were about 7 ffrenchmen
and three of those 7 were maried in holland and keepe
families there as this deponent was informed, hee for his part being
maried to a dutch woman and living there, And saith that about 5 of
the said ffrench were hired in ffrance. And otherwise saving as
aforesaid hee cannot depose.

Examined upon an allegation given
in the twelveth instant on the
behalfe of the said Bolyn la Gard
[?XXXX/X dt.]

Peter Baly of Amsterdam Mariner, aged 32 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the first second and third articles hee cannot depose, for hee saith
hee doth not knowe the shipp the Saint Jacob arlate nor ought of the
voyage in question.
To the fourth hee saith that hee hath well knowne the producent
William Bolyn de la Gard and hath soe donne for theise tenn
yeares last past, during which space the said producent hath lived in
Amsterdam where this deponent hath dwelt above fifteene yeares and
hath bin there well acquainted with him, and hath heard him say that
albeit hee is a Native of Saint Malo's, yet hee is a Burger of
Amsterdam, and saith that the said producent hath bin for all the
said time and is commonly accompted a Burger of Amsterdam
and there maried, and a subiect of the lords the States of the United
Netherlands. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true.
To
