To the first second and third Articles of the sayd Allegation This deponent
saith and deposeth that the arlate Anne Muytinx deceased for diverse
months now past (as this deponent hath understood by Hjeronimo
Brudgmans her sonnees and acquantance and correspondent the sonn of the
sayd Anne Muitinx residing att Sevill hath driven a constant
trade betwixt fflanders and Spaine for sylver and other goods. And
this deponent saith that being att Sevill in the month of August 1652
he saw the sayd Hjeronimo Brudgmans there sell severall parcells
or Cases of bone lace of good value, which he then sayd was upon the
accompt of his sayd mother Ann Muytinx of Antwerpe, and that he
had receyved order from her to make returnes thereof in money and
sylver. And further saith that toward the latter end of September
next following the sayd Hjeronimo Brudgmans as factor for his sayd
mother sent and laded aboard the shipp Sampson arlate Otto George
master att or in the bay of Cadiz by Peter Classon a barkman and diego Maestre his the sayd
Hjeronimo's servant eight baggs of peices of eight conteining
eight thousand peices of eight coynes of Peru marjed with a
small double crosse as in the margent. and allso fifteene baggs of
peices of eight of Peru, each bagg conteyning two hundred
and fifty peices of eight more or lesse marked with the foresayd
marke for the use and accompt and att the hazard and Adventure
of the sayd Anne Muitinx to be in the sayd shipp carryed to Ostend
in fflanders and there to be delivered to her or her Agents for her use,
att the lading of all which sylver or moneyes this deponent was
aboard the sayd shipp and in sight and presence, and saith that he
then heard the sayd Diegoe Maestre tell the sayd Otto George that
there was in one of the eight larger baggs aforesayd fifty peices
of eight more than were entred in the bill of lading, and that
there was about ninety three peices of eight in the sayd fifteen
lesser baggs over and above the sayd 250. in each of them. And
he further saith that for the reasons predeposed he knoweth that the arlate
Anne Muytinx in the sayd month of September and untill the tyme
of her death was the lawfull Owner of all and singular the moneyes
aforesayd and so accounted. And saith he hath credibly heard that the
sayd Muitinx since the lading of the sayd moneyes is departed this life
and that the arlate Ann Brudgmans and Margaret Brudgmans
her daughters are her heyres and enioy her estate as heires unto
her the sayd Anne Muytinx, and thereby are as he saith the present
and lawfull Owners of all the sayd moneys and so accounted And
further he cannot depose.
