Transcription present being Consull for the Societie of present being Consull for the Societie of the Hanse Townes, and holding in<br /> that quality his ordinary residence at Tholon and Marseilles in Provence<br /> in the kingdome of ffrance well knoweth That the arlate shipp the ''Sampson''<br /> whereof Otto George arlate then was Master being taken and surprized<br /> by some french men of warr was in or about the moneths of November<br /> or December in the yeare 1651,. last past brought up to the Port of Tholon<br /> in ffrance, and being there brought up was by the Councill of the<br /> french king residing at Paris in facte adiudged for lawfull Prize, and<br /> the said adjudication actually executed at Tholon aforesaid And thereupon the<br /> said Otto George desired this deponent as Consull for the said Hanse Townes<br /> to one of which the said shipp belonged, to be assistant to him in and about the<br /> redemption thereof for the use and accompt of Vincent van Campen<br /> John de Windt Daniel de Leon ffrancisco Panninck and others the<br /> then and now Owners of the said shipp the ''Sampson'', And accordingly this<br /> Deponent treated at Tholon with the seizors of the said shipp and those to<br /> whom shee was adjudged as Prize about the redemption of the same,<br /> And finally concluded and agreed with them for the summe or valew of<br /> twelve thousand patacoons or pieces of eight, which the said Otto<br /> George, after the said accord made, goeing by land from Tholon to Genoa<br /> remitted thence to Tholon by bills of exchange, and some of the said bills<br /> being adressed to this deponent hee received at Marseilles and caused the moneys<br /> therein mentioned to be really payd at Tholon to the said seizors and interesees<br /> being ffrenchmen residing at Tholon, and the rest of the said summe was also there<br /> actually paid by the said meanes of bills of exchange to the said interesees<br /> at Tholon aforesaid, who were wholly satisfied and paid for the said<br /> summe agreed upon before the said shipp was freed and departed out of<br /> the said Port of Tholon, and upon such payment the said Interessees<br /> redelivered unto this deponent the Obligation which hee upon the accord<br /> made had given them under his hand for the payment of the same, And<br /> this deponent saith, that after the said transaction done, the moneys payed and<br /> the shipp freed as aforesaid, the said Vincent van Campen writt to this<br /> deponent and in the name of himselfe and said Consorts Owners of the said shipp<br /> ''Sampson'' thanked this deponent for his assistance in the redemption of the<br /> same, and thereby this deponent is assured that they did approve and accept<br /> of the said transaction And further to this article hee saith hee cannot<br /> depose:-/ To the second hee saith, That the said shipp being so redeemed,<br /> by the direction of the said Otto George shee<br /> sett saile from Tholon aforesaid about the<br /> (endholon aforesaid about the<br /> (end  +
