Biographical synthesis

John Turner (b. ca. 1618; d. ?). Shipwright.

Carpenter of the coal ship the Mary Rose.

Resident in 1659 in Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.

Evidence from High Court of Admiralty

Forty-one year old John Turner deposed on November 20th 1659 in the High Court of Admiralty.[1] He was examined on an allegation on behalf of ffrancis Cole and others in the case of "Nicholas Bradley Robert Marriot And others owners of the John of Ipswich against the Mary Rose and against ffrancis Cole and other".[2]

The case concerned the coming foul of two coal ships, the John and the Mary Rose at Tinmouth haven in late 1658.

John Turner was on board the Mary Rose at the time of the incident in question.
