and others of the shipps crewe keeping them company in their debaucherie
this deponent heard some of them that retourned say that such their
extravagancie was through the allurement and persuasion of the said ffrisbie
and Archer, And saith that the said ffrisby and Archer with five
others of the ships company haveing run farr on the score at a badd house in
Ligorne, the master of the house who was a souldier got his fellow souldiers
to take them into custodie and detaine them for his pay, whereof the said
Captaine Hunt making complaint to the English Consul, and hee
threatning the said houskeeper, hee set them at libertie, and forthwith
three of them came aboard, but the said ffrisby and Archer and two
others staid finally ashore, albeit then they came to the waterside with
the three that came aboard, and might aswell have come aboard
and they in the shipps boate which was ashore, but they refused, and
so deserted the said shipp and her service to her greate preiudice, and
putting her in danger by manner of enemies dutch and ffrench that
were in hand, and being so deprived of his Carpenter, the said Captaine
Hunt was necessitated to hire and did hire another in his stead, and
offered the Kings pay to other mariners then to come aboard and serve in the
said homewards voyage, but could get none, which offer the said ffrisby and
Archer were aware of, and yet they deserted her as aforesaid, Et alr nescit.

Ad Interrria [CENTRE HEADING]

Ad primum rendet that hee liveth cheifely by maintenance from his
father who is deputie Vice Admirall of the West, and upon his
father, howbeit hee hath 15 li of his owne, and is of noe relation
or kinne to the said [?XXXX] having bin cleared off the shipp theise
three monthes.

Ad 2 rendet that the said ffrisby and Archer did not behave themselves
and performe their duties as they ought, referring himselfe to his forgoing
deposition, besides the said Archer using to prate to others when the shipp
hath bin in delivering and thereby both neglecting his owne dutie and
hindering others, and being reprehended therefore by the Masters mate,
said, hold your peace you old rogue or I will knock your brains out,
or words to the same effect, and saith hee saw most of the foresaid moneys
paid to them.

Ad 5 rendet that as hee heard they the said persons were run twenty shillings
a peece on the score in the said house at Ligorna, and the said man of the
house importuned the said Captaine Hunt to discharge their said reckoning
for them, which hee refused, telling him hat hee according to the
duke of fflorence his orders ought not to detaine them, which hee
promised hee would not, and soe they might have come aboard if they
had pleased. Et alr nescit salvis predepoita
