Transcription

February 1658 (old stile) the arlate Phillip Van Hulten and
others (all subjects of the States of the United Provinces)
were the true and lawfull owners and Proprietors
of ffourteene Thousand three hundred thirty one
bull and Cowe hides, One thousand foure hundred sixty
foure Charges of Cacoa, foure thousand three hundred
and sixty pounds of Tobaccoe, seaven hundred seaventy
and two peeces of Brazill wood (weighing about 79 Kintalls and
a halfe) Eighteene Kintalls of Ginger, and fourty two
dozen of Tortoise shells, All for and as such Commonly
Accounted Which hee Knoweth for that the same goods
and Merchandizes being laden onboard the ship the Santa
Maria this deponent the Commander of her signed bills of
Lading for all or the greatest part thereof, and twooke particular
notice thereof, and was made pryvy to the Lading
of the same, and for whose account the same were Lden

To the second hee saith that for and during all the time
aforesaid the arlate Hector Peterson and Company
(all subjects of the said States) were the true and
lawfull owners of the said ship Santa Maria and of
her tackle apparrell and furniture, and this deponent was
by them and by their consent and approbation put
