Transcription

1. To the sixth article of the sayd allegation he saith that after sućh tyme as the sayd
2. steeving Instruments were arranged on shore as aforsayd, and about the
3. 23th day of 1653 allegat the sayd Roger ffooke of this deponents
4. knowledge and hearing did give order for the lading of the sayd
5. thirty baggs of wooll, for the accompt of mr Ricto aforesayd to whom
6. he consigned the same and the sayd ˹Richie˺ Chowne did of this deponents
7. hearing then acquaint the sayd ffooke that he had seven baggs
8. of wooll to send to his brother XXXXX Chowne to London , and the
9. sayd ffooke was willing that they should be laden on board the sayd
10. shipp and thene upon by the consent and approbation of the sayd ffooke
11. and Captain Hughes the sayd steeving Instruments were of this deponents
12. sight brought on board againe, and the sayd thirty seven baggs
13. were likewise brought on board and steeved, and the last of the
14. sayd 37 baggs were not steeved till about the seventh day of June
15. 1652. And he knoweth that the premisses were Xone by the order
16. and approbation of the sayd ffooke for that he this deponent was as had
17. XXXXX with him about this very when he gave such order
18. And further (not certainly remembering who the sayd ffooke and
19. Chowne ćame on board the sayd shipp

20. To the 7th article of the sayd allegation he sayth that after the sayd 37 baggs were
21. steeved, the sayd shipps Company immediately fell to worke in cauking
22. and fitting her for her sayd homewards voyage; how is it he sayd
23. the sayd Chowne comming on board the sayd shipp after the sayd last
24. woolls were steeved did acquaint the Company of the sayd shipp of
25. the Convoy. And the sayd mr ffooke did in this deponents presence and
26. hearing advice the sayd Captain Hughes to stay for the sayd Convoy
27. saying it was very Convenient for him so to doe and that the sayd
28. shipps lading was of greater waten than her freighters were
29. aware of or to that effect. And otherwise he ćannot depose.

30. To the 8th article of the sayd allegation he saith, that he this deponent by the order
31. of Captain Hughes did severall tymes attend the sayd mr ffooke for bills
32. of lading of the woolls fXXXXXXXX ˹first˺ laden and was severall tymes delayed
33. by him the sayd mr ffooke. And saith that hee the sayd ffooke did not send
34. or bring any bills of lading for the last thirty seven baggs aforesayd
35. or any of them till the night on which the sayd shipp departed from
36. Ciprus which was about the ninth say of June 1652. And then and not
37. before he the sayd ffooke did bring bills of lading for the sayd last laden
38. baggs which were then signed in this deponents the XXXXX which
39. being done the sayd shipp not long after for sayle and departed. And
40. otherwise not calling to mind that the sayd mr ffooke was solliatted for the
41. sayd last bills, he ćannot depose XX

42. To the 9th article of the sayd allegation he saith that the foresayd ssray Chowne and
43. brother of the sayd Henry Chowne one of the parties in this first, had a bill
44. of lading for the sayd seven baggs of woolls so laden as aforesayd
45. by the sayd Richard Chowne by the consent and approbation of the sayd
46. Roger ffookes att Ciprus as aforesayd, And this deponent hath seene the sayd
47. bill of lading in the possession of the sayd Henry Chowne and ćonseyneth
48. that the sayd Henry Chowne saith seene the same and taken notice of the
49. date thereof. And further he ćannot depose.

50. To the 10th article of the sayd allegation he saith that Zant is not much out of the way
51. from Ciprus to london, and shipps that want lading coming from ScXXXXX
52. or Ciprus usually passe that way; and in this deponents judgement and
53. by the report of mariners. It is the sećond way. And further he
54. cannot depose.
