Transcription

appeare that the sayd James Stanier in the month of January
1649. did send to some of the producents factors in Cadiz and
for the producents accompt severall English manufactures of
great value in the shipp Maydenhead James Lutton Commander
all from this Port of London. to say eleven bales conteyning
275 peices of Norwich stuffes, and 90 peices of bayes amounting
to. 1290. li 19 s. 4 d sterling, and more 9 bales conteyning 202.
peices of Norwich stuffes amounting to. 595 li 0 s. 3 d. sterling
and more 17. bales conteyning 525 peices of Norwich stuffes of the
value of 1283 li. 4. 8 d. sterling and more 23 bales conteyning
630 peices of Norwich stuffes amounting to 1709 li././ 7 s. 11 d. sterling.

To the 9th and 11th articles of the sayd allegation and bills of lading to the
same annexed he saith that the producents before the shipp Sampson
was seized did by letters of advise signify to the sayd James Stanier that their
Agents att Cadiz as by advise from thence they understood had
laden severall good quantities of sylver for their the producents
accompts on board Otto George of Lubeck, and desired the same
James Stanier to looke after the sayd sylver for them in case Otto
George should be brought into England which advise he saw
in his sayd Masters Counting hoswe before the newes of the seizure
in question. and saith the producents did afterwards send the sayd
bills of lading being 13 in number to the sayd James Stanier
in order to make this Clayme for them. And otherwise or
further cannot depose.

Upon the rest he is not examined by direction.

To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. and 10th. Interrogatories he saith he hath knowne the
producents and ffrancis de la Sierpe interrate 3 yeares by correspondencyes the
rest of the persons interrate he knoweth not. and saith he never was in the
shipp Sampson nor att Cadiz nor saw the sylver and money now claymed
laden nor any bills of lading signed for the same. and further saving
as aforesayd cannot depose.

To the 11th negatively.

To the 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19 he saith he saw not the sayd moneyes
and sylver bought nor knoweth of any ensurance upon the same nor saw
any of the bills of lading for the same signed or delivered nor knoweth
the lawes of Spaine, nor saw any of the letters above mentioned
signed. And further or otherwise saving his foregoeing
depositions whereto he referrs himselfe he cannot depose.
