  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Transcription

To the third pretensed position and schedule
therein mentioned hee answereth and
beleeveth That dureing such time as the
shippe the Jonathan and Abigal
was and continued att an Anchor in
Carlile bay arlate the voyadge in ques=
tion the factors or Assignes of the said
Bardwell and Trott or one of them
did come on board the arlate shippe the
Jonathan and Abigai and did affirme
and declare that the goods arlate in
controversy were cominge from the
shoare and should forthwith bee brought
aboard whereupon this respondent
beleeveth that the said Page did thereupon
signe the bill of ladeing arlate as is
arlate but this respondent beleeveth
that the goods arlate never came aboard
the said shippe the Jonathan and Abigaill
att the Barbadoes the voyadge arlate
but the same were ashoare att the
Barbadoes in the said Bardwell or Trot
or theire factors owne house or ware=
houses att the time of the pretended
date of the pretended bill of Ladeing and
att the time of the comeing away of
the said shippe from the Barbadoes
And otherwise hee doeth not beleeve the
said pretended position to bee true in any
parte thereof

To the 4th pretensed position hee answereth
and beleeveth that after the death of
the arlate Robert Page and after the
arlate shippe the Jonathan and Abigai
had taken in all her ladeing and was
ready to set saile from the Barbadoes
towards London and not before this
