  • Go into edit mode
  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Item in the moneth of October 1644
I stopped a Barke
called the Edward belonging to one
Mr Webb which had in her some yarne
and other goods and was left with Mr
Richard d[?urrmont] att Leverpoole deputy
Collector for Reprizall goods hee
tooke 300 li Bond for the goods 300 li
The said Barke was with her goods
restored by order of the Earle of
Warwicke as I beleeve will appeare

Item in October 1644 I sent my
Boate into Chester water and there
shee surprized a Pinke called the
Mary of dublin haveing in her
some Twenty Tonne of Coales
and some five Tonne of cheese
laden aboard of her bound for
dublin being both in hostillity
against the Parliament the coales
and the cheese some 95 li
The Pinke called the Mary with
her Coales and cheese I sent to the
North of Ireland or to the west
of Scotalnd to Maior Generall
Munrowe or to Captaine Lewes
[?dicks] or Captaine John [?Cusse]
