  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Transcription

Passage from the Barbadoes to Santa Cruz
and beleeveth that the ship arlate did set saile out
of the downes the second of July 1659. and arrived
att Barbados the 12th of August 1649. beinge thither
first bound and that haveing necessarily stayed there
videlcet att the Barbados nine dayes to deliver some
goods and passengers shee set saile from thence
to Antwgo and Saint Christophers, where haveinge
necessarily stayed the time before mentioned uppon the
occasion befor mentioned this rendent did set saile
from Saint Christophers uppon or about the 13th
day of September 1649. and arrived att Santa Cruz
the 15th day of September 1640. and after
arrivall there delivered the rest of the ships
ladeinge and passengers there, where hee sayed
untill the eleaventh of december 1649 dureinge which
time there dyed 15 of the marriners of thesaid shipp and otherwise hee doth not beleeve
the pretensed positionn to be true in any part/

To the 8th pretensed position hee answereth and
beleeveth that the usaull passafe from
Guiney in the Gold coast arlate to the Barbados
is ordinarily (as hee beleeveth accomplished
in fower monethes, but some times uppon
occasion of Contrey windes and weather the
same is of Longer time in performance, and
otherwise hee doth not beleeve this pretensed
position to be true in any part thereof.

To the nineth pretensed position hee answereth
and beleeveth that in the moneth of ffebruary
1649. this rendent did with the ship
