  • Go into edit mode
  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

the said summe of 24. s or ever undertake
or promise to pay him the said summe but
beleeveth that hee was hired by Captaine
Andrewes one of the setters forth of the
Shipp arlate whoe telling this Rendent
that hee should have or that hee promised
24. s per moneth hee did accordingly write
his name and the said summe downe in
his booke And hee beleeveth the identity
of the persons alleadged./

To the first pretensed position hee answereth
and beleeveth that within the time arlate
and untill the Twenty third day of October
last past and not after ut credit this
rendent was owner of Twoe fifteene
parts of the shipp the Ulisses arlate and her
Tackle and furniture and noe more ut
credit and Master and Commander of her
by the order and direction of the rest of
her owners ut credit And otherwise for his
parte hee doeth not beleeve the said position
to bee true in any parte thereof/

To the second pretensed position hee answereth
and beleeveth that within the time arlate
this Rendent did hire and agree with
the severall and respective marriners
