Shipped quartermaster of the ship the ''Saint George'' at Messina, for the return voyage to London out of the Mediterranean.

Resident in 1654 in South Yarmouth in the county of Norfolk.

Twenty-fiveyear old Thomas Dore deposed on September 14th 1654 in the High Court of Admiralty.<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.6r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.6r]]</ref> He was examined on interrogatories "On the behalfe of William Mico and John Heard English merchants resident in Naples touching their losse in the shipp the ''Saint George'' of London".<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.5v Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.5v]]</ref>

Thomas Dore stated that the ship the ''Saint George'' "came from Zant and Cephalonia (where shee had taken in currance) to Messina and there this deponent was shipt quarter master of her". She took in a lading of cotton wool and feathers at Messina and replaced Thomas Nevin withe with Hewnry Minor as her master.
She departed Messina in March 1654, intending to return to London, but "in her course of proceeding for Legorne, where shee was intended to touch to get company, comming of the Malo[?r]a, shee was met with and set upon by a dutch man of warr in hostilitie against the subiects of this Commonwealth and after severall houres fight was soe rent and shattered by the said man of warr that at length shee sanck right downe and perished in the sea together with all her lading saving tenn bales of silke which were saved before shee sunck".<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.6r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.6r]]</ref>
