Thirty-five year old Thomas Bowdler deposed on August 20th 1657 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of the English East India Company in the case of "The Governour and Company of English merchants trading to East India and others against the Governour and Company of Merchants of the United Netherlands, thither trading".ref>[[HCA 13/72 f.496v Annotate|HCA 13/72 f.496v]]</ref>
