==Evidence from High Court of Admiralty==
Fifty-three year old Richard Simons deposed on September 4th 1654 in the High Court of Admiralty.<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.118r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.118r]]</ref> He was examined on an allegation in the case of "Captaine Benjamin Crandley Arthur Bayly and Companie owners of the Vessell the ''Margaret'' of which Robert ffox is Master against the vessell the ''Mayfflower'' of which William White was Master, and her Tackle and furniture and againe the said William White."<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.116r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.116r]]</ref>

Richard Simons stated that he had been cooper for the last eighteen months on the ship the ''Margaret'' (Master: Robert ffoxe). The ship was owned by Benjamin Crandley Arthur Bailie and Company. Simons had been present in October 1653 at the graving and hauling of the ship from the shipyard of the shipwright Mr Tailor near Wapping stairs.<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.118r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.118r]]</ref> Simons went on to testify to the coming foul of the ''Margaret'' by the ''Mayflower'' As a result of the coming foul, the ''Margaret'' required repairs to her boltsprit. He was unable to say whether the damage and repairs had delayed the voyage of the ''Margaret'' from London to Virginia.<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.119r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.119r]]</ref>
