Twenty-five year old Mark Bennet deposed onOctober 6th 1657 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of John Cobb, Mathew Jennings and others, mmariners of the ship the ''Gilbert'' in the case "John Cobb, Mathew Jennings and others mariners of the said shipp the ''Gilbert'' (whereof William Croford is master) against the sayd shipp and against Gilbert Keate, Jonathan Keate and Company".<ref>[[HCA 13/72 f.150r Annotate|HCA 13/72 f.150r]]</ref>
