I BENJAMYN ALBYN OF LONDON Merchant being (Praised be God) in perfect memory and in a good measure of Bodyly health Doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in mannerand forme following (That is to say) First I bequeath my soule into the handsof Almighty God Trusting only by the merritts of the Righteous death and passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus who is now sitting att the right hand of God his ffather and my ffather to make intercession for mee To obtaine full Remission of all my sinnes My Body when itshall please God to fixate it from my soule I recommend to the Earth in assured Confidence of a most glorious Resurrection att the great and dreadfull dayof Judgm:t

As for my Outward Estate wherewith God of his goodnes hath endowned mee I account my selfe but a steward thereof And hope through his mercy in Jesus Christ to be alwayes prepared to give a Comfort to be accompt of my Steward shipp I doe hereby desire and order in the ffirst place That all such debts as are by mee xxxx or any manner of my Justly due from me to any person whatsoever be truely and fully satisffied and paid which being done The Remainder of my Estate I devise and bequeath as followeth

IMPRIMIS I give and bequeath unto My Loveing ffaithfull and obedient wife Elizabeth Albyn (according to the Laudable Custome of the Citty of London) One full Third part of my net Estate

ITEM I give unto my sonne Benjamin Albyn ffifteene hundred pounds Besides One Thousand pounds which I have already given him in part of his Portion as may appear by my Books To M:r John Bush ffifteene hundred pounds as may likewise appeare by my Books

ITEM I give unto my daughters Bathshna Mary and Abigail Albyn ffifteene hundred pounds a peece And I pray God to Blesse unto each of my Children the Respective Portions hereby mencioned to be given and bequeathed unto them

The Remaining part of myEstate My ffunerall Charges (which I desire may be but moderate) being ffirst deducted I order to be disposed of as followeth

First I give unto my Brother John Albyn ffower pounds which hee oweth mee on his Account in my Bookes

ITEM I give unto my Brother Joseph Albyn One and Twenty pounds which he oweth mee on his account in my Bookes

ITEM I give unto my Brother Onisiphorous Albyn Tenn pounds

ITEM I give unto my loveing sonn in Law M:r John Bush ffifty pounds

ITEM I give unto the Master wardens and Comisalty of the Masters of Skinners London whereof I am a member Twenty pounds to buy a Silver Saltcellar for the use of their Comon Hall

ITEM I give unto the President and Governors of Christs Hospitall London for the benefitt of the Children there educated ffifty pounds

ITEM I give ffifty pounds To be distributed to poore Ministers or the widowes of Poor ministers by ffourty shillings a peice att the distraction of my Executrix or Executors

ITEM I give unto my Loveing and Antcient ffreind John Jolife Esquire Twenty pounds whom I doe hereby desire and intreate To be ayding and assisting to my Executrix or Executors for getting in my Estate and otherwise by his Counsell and advise as occasion shall require:

ITEM I give unto my beloved wife All my Jewells and Plate And if I shall have any Apprentice dwelling with me att the time of my decease with whom I shall have received any sume of money upon his Coming to mee, I doe hereby order That he be dealt withall as in equity and good Concience shalbe fitting wherein I doe desire my Executrix to consurt and advise with such ffreinds of my owne Profession as may best direct and Justxxxxx her

As for the Residue of my Estate not before bequeathed herby my will and order is That it shall be devided and distributed amongst my Children That shall survive mee Soe as that my Eldest Child shall have a double share and every one of the Rest shall have an equall proportion thereof

AND LASTLY I doe hereby make Constitute and ordaine my deare and Loveing wife Elizabeth Albyn sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament Makeing Null and void all other Wills and Testaments by mee formerlymade But if it shall please God That my wife depart this life before mee Then my will is That such part of my Estate as is hereby bequeathed unto her shall be devided and distributed amongst my Children That shall survive mee Soe as that my Eldest Child shall have a double share and every one of the rest shall have an equall proportion thereof And if any of them dye before their marriage or before they attaine to the age of One and Twenty yeares Then such Childs portion shall be in like manner devided among my surviving children (That is to say) a double share to the Eldest and each of the Rest to have an equall proportion And in case my wife depart this life before mee then I doe hereby make Constitute and Ordaine my Beloved sonne Benjamin Albyn Executor of this my Last Will and Testament Earnestly desiring and requiring him to deale loveingly and kindly with all the restof my children xxxxxx and Justly to pay unto each of them their best preferment and advantage without any unnecessary delay has my due respect to the Lawes and Customes of the Citty of London for Orphans And I doe entreate my loving ffreinde John Jolife Esquire and my Loveing Sonne in Lawe M:r John Bush To be Overseers of this my last will and testament

I doe hereby declare that my desire is That my body may be Interrred in the Evening by day light without any ffunerall sermon

ITEM I give unto my Cousin Mary Barnard wife or widow of Edward Barnard late of London Merchant the sume of Twenty pounds

WITNES my hand this 6:o December 1675. Benjamin Albyn. My will and meaning is That the Legacies given by this my last Will and Testament shall be paid within one yeare and a halfe after my decease or sooner att the discretion of my Executrix.
