John Gardner was quarter master of an English ship whose master was Mungoe Jackson.

==Evidence from High Court of Admiralty==
Forty year old John Gardner deposed on May 9th 1655 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on behalf of Morens in a case brought against the ''Charitie'' and goods.<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.294r Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.294r]]</ref>

The case concerned the seizure of the ship the ''Charitie'' (Master: Paul Paulson) by Mungoe Jackson. The master of the ''Charitie'' claimed his ship and lading were "of Gothenburg" and belonged to subjects of the Queen of Sweden.

John Gardner stated that "hee can speake noe language but English and a little broken dutch".<ref>[[HCA 13/70 f.294v Annotate|HCA 13/70 f.294v]]</ref>
