Thirty year old George Whales deposed on October 27th 1659 in the High Court of Admiralty.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[HCA 13/73 f.425r Annotate|HCA 13/73 f.425r]]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He was examined on an allegation on behalf of Edmond Lemmon and Company in &amp;quot;A busines of examination of witnesses on the behalf of Edmond Lemmon and company owners of the shipp the ''Redd Rose'' whereof the sayd Lemmon was Master and her tackle apparrell and furniture against Wygart Wigarts and John Drewes in particular and all others in general which take upon them to justifie the seizure and surpriz all of the sayd shipp the ''Redd Rose'' and her ladeing&amp;quot;.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[HCA 13/73 f.423r Annotate|HCA 13/73 f.423r]]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

The cae concerned the ship the ''Redd Rose'', which was owned by Edmund Lemmon, Captaine Harman, Mr Ashkettle and other English men. The ship had been in the River Ems (&amp;quot;Eames&amp;quot;) near the town of Embden in May 1659, taking in a lading of salt for transport to an unspecified Baltic port. George Whales, the master of the ship and other members of the crew were ashore, when the ship was seized by Wigart Wygarts and John Drewes, subjects of the United Provinces, together with thirty soldiers and seamen.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[HCA 13/73 f.425r Annotate|HCA 13/73 f.425r]]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
