To the 7th 8th and 9th arles- of the sayd allegation hee saith&lt;br /&gt;
that the sayd Keene hearing that this deponent and others who –&lt;br /&gt;
were the company of the Anne Pinck of Bristowe had had their seyd&lt;br /&gt;
vessell cast away neere Chippione not farr Off of St Lucar&lt;br /&gt;
did desyre this deponent and the rest of the sayd shipps company to –&lt;br /&gt;
goe with him his voyage to Palma but this deponent and all the sayd&lt;br /&gt;
shipps company told him they would not goe any voyage but for&lt;br /&gt;
England, for that the sayd Keene seeing hee could not get noe Mariners&lt;br /&gt;
to goe with him his voyage to Palma did at St Lucar take in a –&lt;br /&gt;
lading of goods for London, whereupon this deponent and the rest of the&lt;br /&gt;
sayd Pinke Anne of Bristowes company, did shipp them selves in the&lt;br /&gt;
sayd vessell the John and Elizabeth and did sayle her from St Lucar&lt;br /&gt;
to this Port of London And further he cannot depose&lt;br /&gt;
To the 10th hee saith hee well knoweth the arlates- Mr Peter Probee and&lt;br /&gt;
Mr Edward Watts and saith they are English men merchants of good –&lt;br /&gt;
repute and accompt in St Lucar and soe generally accompted And –&lt;br /&gt;
further to this arle- hee cannot depose /&lt;br /&gt;

To the first he saith hee cometh to testifie the truth of his knowledge&lt;br /&gt;
In this cause at the request of Edward Keene the producent to whome&lt;br /&gt;
hee is noe way related saving hee served as a Mariner in his sayd&lt;br /&gt;
shipp John and Elizabeth in her voyage from St Lucar to London and was –&lt;br /&gt;

d : smith     	3 	William Compton of the parish of St Gyles&lt;br /&gt;
			Cripplegate Mariner aged 35 yeares or&lt;br /&gt;
			thereabouts a witnes sworne and examined saith and&lt;br /&gt;
			deposeth as followeth vizt./&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
To the first article of the sayd allegation he saith that hee this deponent&lt;br /&gt;
was not one of the Company of the shipp John and Elizabeth at her first setting&lt;br /&gt;
out uppon the voyage in question but hee this deponent this deponent seeing her at&lt;br /&gt;
St Lucar after shee mett with the disaster in the subsequent arles- of this allegation&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;#91;mencioned?&amp;amp;#93; and coming alsoe home to England from St Lucar in her as one of&lt;br /&gt;
her Company well knoweth and observed that shee was a new built&lt;br /&gt;
vessel and was very stronge light and staunch in her hull and every&lt;br /&gt;
way a strong vessell saving for the preiudice that happened to her by her&lt;br /&gt;
sayd disaster And further to this arle- he cannot dispose&lt;br /&gt;
To the 2 : 3 : 4th and 5th Articles of the sayd allegation her saith that&lt;br /&gt;
by Common reporte among Merchants and Sea men in St Lucar the&lt;br /&gt;
sayd shipp John and Elizabeth came into St Lucars harbour very sore -&lt;br /&gt;
battered and shattered having her midshipp broken down to the water&lt;br /&gt;
by a  shipp in her company called the Supply her falling fowle on her in a storme&lt;br /&gt;
and her maine mast and bolspritt spent and lost and only a part of her mizen –&lt;br /&gt;
mast remayning which was used as a Jury mayne mast, for the better conducting –&lt;br /&gt;
her through the sea to harbour, after shee had as was reported beate&lt;br /&gt;
up and downe in that battered condition at Sea in a very violent storme&lt;br /&gt;
divers dayes togeather&lt;br /&gt;
utterly forsaken of all her Company save the Master and his Mate and a boy , all the rest having &amp;amp;#91;upon?&amp;amp;#93; the said Supplyes falling&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;#91;fowle?&amp;amp;#93; of her as at &amp;amp;#91;course and?&amp;amp;#93; forsaken her and &amp;amp;#91;gone away?&amp;amp;#93; in the Supply and left her to the mercie of the Sea&lt;br /&gt;
And hee this deponent seeing her at St Lucar&lt;br /&gt;
after her coming in hither knoweth that when hee sawe her there shee was&lt;br /&gt;
not capable to proceede upon any voyage whatsoever and saith hee&lt;br /&gt;
for his part wondereth how shee got safe to harbour being soe battered&lt;br /&gt;
and bruised as shee was when hee sawe her and wanting her masts as aforesayd and almost&lt;br /&gt;
all thinges necessarie for her preservation And further to those articles –&lt;br /&gt;
hee cannot depose&lt;br /&gt;
To the 6th article he saith hee cannot depose anything thereto of his -&lt;br /&gt;
certaine knowledge but that hath heard that the artlate- Keene did hyre&lt;br /&gt;
two dutch men and a Scotch man to goe in his sayd shipp to –&lt;br /&gt;
Palma whether shee was (as it was sayd first bound) which men as was reported&lt;br /&gt;
Robbed his the sayd Keenes Cabbin of money therein and then came away&lt;br /&gt;
and left the shipps boate ashoare so that hee the sayd Keene could get noe company&lt;br /&gt;

the Anne Pinke of Bristoll and was cast away neere St Lucar, to serve&lt;br /&gt;
in her as mariners to the port of London, for that they refused to serve&lt;br /&gt;
in her for any other place, And further hee cannot depose saving&lt;br /&gt;
that the sayd vessell did accordingly come from St Lucars to London&lt;br /&gt;
this deponent served in her as Pylott and Masters Mate of her thither and&lt;br /&gt;
thereby he knoweth the premisses. . /&lt;br /&gt;
To the 9th saving his foregoing deposition he cannot depose./&lt;br /&gt;
To the 10th he saith hee knoweth the articulates Mr Probie and Mr Watts&lt;br /&gt;
and saith they are English merchants and of good Accompt and repute&lt;br /&gt;
in St Lucar articulate and farther saving his foregping deposition hee&lt;br /&gt;
cannot depose./&lt;br /&gt;

To the first Interrogaory hee saith hee cometh to testifie and hath of his –&lt;br /&gt;
knowledge at the request of Mr Keene the &amp;amp;#91;perducent?&amp;amp;#93; and that hee was&lt;br /&gt;
only one of the Company of the Shipp John and Elizabeth in her voyage&lt;br /&gt;
hoewards from St Lucar to London and hath noe relation to the sayd&lt;br /&gt;
Keene save that hee &amp;amp;#91;was?&amp;amp;#93; his Mate and Pilott of the sayd Shipp in her&lt;br /&gt;
homewards voyage. And otherwise negatively. /&lt;br /&gt;
To the 2 hee saith he knoweth that the sayd vessell John and Elizabeth was&lt;br /&gt;
In some measure fitted and repayred at St Lucars and did take a –&lt;br /&gt;
freight for London for that none of her company there hyred would goe in her&lt;br /&gt;
to any other place, and saith in this deponents Judgment shee was not&lt;br /&gt;
soe fitt to have gone to Palma from as to London, for that&lt;br /&gt;
she wanted many things fitting –&lt;br /&gt;
to have gone to Palma, by reason the voyage is more dangerous&lt;br /&gt;
for fear of the turkey piratts and men of warr and other perils incident&lt;br /&gt;
thereto And further hee cannot answere not being of her company&lt;br /&gt;

To the first second third 4th and 5th articles of the sayde allegacion hee saith that&lt;br /&gt;
hee this deponent was went from England to St Lucar in Spaine in a vessel&lt;br /&gt;
called the Triall belonging to the port of London and saith that after his ~&lt;br /&gt;
arrivall there the shipp John and Elizabeth was towed in by two -&lt;br /&gt;
ffrench boates into the harbour of St Lucar, and this deponent sawe that the sayd vessell –&lt;br /&gt;
the John and Elizabeth then had her midshipp broken downe and her&lt;br /&gt;
